Cherry Hills Village first started to grow in the years after World War II. The area attracted a number of developers, who wanted to bring in commercial enterprises. The citizens of the community formed the Cherry Hills Improvement Association a group dedicated to preserving the quiet, residential nature of the village.
The community today retains a unique, upscale atmosphere within proximity to Denver and surrounding suburbs. Cherry Hills is dedicated to providing quality homes and recreational amenities, such as golf courses, horseback riding trails and tennis courts. The village also offers excellent schools, both public and private; a relaxed, semi-rural ambience; and easy access to all the exciting attractions of the Denver metro area. Residents of Cherry Hills Village enjoy an extensive system of parks and open space. In addition to providing plenty of opportunities for outdoor recreation, the park system helps the community to retain its quiet atmosphere. Miles of paved and unpaved trails wander through Cherry Hills and connect with larger, regional trails. The Highland Canal Trail connects Cherry Hills Village to Denver, Greenwood Village, Centennial, and the rest of Arapahoe County. Parks such as Three Pond, Dahlia Hollow, Blackmer Common, Meade and Woodie Hollow provide horse arenas, picnic shelters and more. Public school students in Cherry Hills are served by the nationally acclaimed Cherry Creek School District. Cherry Hills Village Elementary School is located right in town, while older students are served by West Middle School and Cherry Creek High School. Local private schools include the Kent Denver School and St. Mary's Academy. For post-secondary education, the University of Colorado at Denver, Denver University, and several other excellent colleges and universities are located a short distance away. Cherry Hills Village is within easy driving distance of all the exciting attractions of the Denver metropolitan area, including shopping at Cherry Creek Mall and Park Meadows Mall. From the Denver Center for the Performing Arts and the Denver Art Museum to the Denver Zoo, the popular Red Rocks Amplitheater, and Six Flags Elitch Gardens, Denver has something for everyone. Also, Denver is represented in all the professional sports by the Broncos, Nuggets, Rockies, Avalanche, and Rapids. The city of Boulder, mountain ski resorts, and the Rocky Mountain National Park offer even more possibilities. |
